PhD Scholar and Casual Academic
School of Information Technology, Deakin University | Geelong, Victoria, Australia | August 2021 - October 2025
I undertook my doctoral research as a PhD scholar at Deakin University, supported by the Deakin University Postgraduate Research Scholarship (DUPR), while also working as a casual teacher in the School of Information Technology. As a PhD scholar, I:
- Designed and implemented novel neural network architectures for hierarchical classification by agreement, including capsule networks and agreement-based learning mechanisms.
- Planned and conducted experiments, analysed results, and evaluated models across diverse domains such as facial recognition, medical imaging, and underwater sensing.
- Published research in peer-reviewed journals and conferences, and presented findings at international conferences and workshops.
- Served as a peer reviewer for academic conferences and journals.
As a casual academic, I contributed to the Deep Learning (SIT319, SIT744) and Artificial and Computational Intelligence (SIT215) units by:
- Facilitating workshops that demonstrated and explained machine learning and deep learning concepts in practice.
- Marking assignments and providing constructive feedback to students.
